Omaha World-Herald reports that Obama has a shot at winning an electoral vote from Nebraska's second district .

His odds of bagging an electoral vote in Nebraska grew stronger this morning, with word that 10,000 to 12,000 early ballots and 5,200 provisional ballots are left to count in Douglas County.

Obama won about 61 percent of the early votes counted before Tuesday's election. If that percentage holds with the early ballots left to count, Obama stands a strong chance of winning the Omaha-area 2nd Congressional District.

Sen. Hagel (R-NE) won't say who he'll vote for, fueling speculation that he will vote for Obama.

...His silence on the issue comes days after his wife announced she would be voting for Sen. Obama (D-Ill.), and follows a summer in which Hagel has dropped clues that he would prefer Obama to Sen. John McCain — despite being close friends with the Arizona Republican and being a chairman on his 2000 presidential campaign.

Odds and Ends

Political Wire notes that the McCain campaign has cut ad spending in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin. The spending has increased in red states of Florida and Virginia.

Political Punch notices the disparity in Virginia where Obama has 50 campaign offices to McCain's 24, 200 paid staffers in to McCain’s 50, and Obama is spending $250,000 a day on TV ads in the state, while McCain is spending $30,000 a day.

Top of the Ticket reports that voter registration has stagnated or dropped in safe states – a 5% drop in South Dakota since 2004 and a 2% decrease in New York over the same period. In contrast voter registration is up 30% in Nevada!

For the first time since 1994, there are more registered Democrats than Republicans in Nebraska’s Douglas County.
