Michelle Obama could’ve been a rock star. She could’ve been the pope. She could’ve talked about values and her love for this country ‘til the cows come home. But she couldn’t have done what the two Obama girls did in their brief appearance onstage. Their love and adoration for Barack Obama was so obvious, their spirits so exuberant, and the family so picture-perfect in that moment that it would make even the most stonehearted viewer smile. If you wanted personal, this is as personal as it gets.
There’s this thing in show business about not sharing a stage with children or animals. More likely than not, the child or the animal will end up upstaging you. In this case though, I’m glad Sasha and Malia stole the show.
